Can anyone explain to me how the "air trap / vacuum valve" should work on this system? dan does not get into much detail about this in his book. the one on this system does not seem to work. i have replaced the boiler. the system short cycles and takes a long time to heat up unless i open the hand valve on top of the " air trap / vacuum valve". then it heats up quickly with no short cycling. the problem is after about an hour steam starts to come out of the open valve. i am considering leaving the valve open and installing a hoffman #75. any help is greatly appreciated.
