With the tax credit for mod/con boilers, I am considering replacing my Heatmaker and go for a new set up Viessmann or Triangle Tube with indirect DHW. I just priced them out and I am not sure if it is time now even with the tax credit since what I have works really well. Does anyone have know what the life expectency is on the Trianco?

    it's time

You got your monies worth I'd say. 17 years is a long time considering it does double duty, heating and domestic hot water. A concentric vent fits perfectly in the old vent hole of the Heatmaker too.

    triangle tube boiler

I installed a Triangle tube prestige excellence Nat gas boiler and the boiler is great only giving as much heat as needed and all the domestic hot water you want.

Go for it since your boiler is 17 years old and the federal tax credit is there.
