oil burner nozzle drip

oil burner nozzle dripI have a Wayne model MS-R burner (circa 1987). The nozzle is a Hago 1.1 gph, 80 degree cone with hollow spray pattern.

After replacing the oil filter and nozzle for the coming heating season I noticed the following:

About 10 seconds after the burn has ended a few drops of oil drip from the nozzle. I don't recall this happening in the past.

I tried replacing the nozzle with a Delavan nozzle with a protek check valve but the same drip occurs.

The nozzle adapter is a anti drip type and appears to be OK.

After a few drops come out the dripping stops.

I read that air in the oil can cause this problem. Can air get in a fitting that appears to be tight (no oil seeping around threds)?

Any suggestions?   Thanks
