Replacing a Water Coil Gasket

I am spending this weekend getting my boiler ready for heating season. I am having a few issues (some of which are covered in a separate thread) but one issue I have is the gasket around the coil leaks steam when the boiler is hot.

My general question is this a DIY job?

With a couple of unions, I can get some of the surrounding pipes out of the way. There are 8 bolts - and none of them seem seized. Will a plumbing supply house (like sid harvey) actually carry this kind of gasket in stock (I dont know the model of the boiler) or am I just applying some sort of high heat gasket in a tube?

Do I have to empty the water in the boiler before taking off the coil?

What are the pitfalls ahead of me?
