circulator pump

I think I have a bad

circulator pump on my hot water base board system. I am thinking of

changing it myself and am wondering what are some of the tricks of the

trade that I should know before doing this? I cant find much on you

tube. Do I needs gaskets, lubricants, etc? How do I re-pressurize the

system? The old one on there is a big old red thing, and I believe a

smaller green one will be going in its place. Are these the same size

and are they interchangeable? Any other tips or tricks? --74.212.38.232

    changing circulators

My best advise to you is to hire a pro to do it and watch carefully. It is not as simple as draining, unbolting and refilling. Boiler water can be very hot and you might drain off way more than you should. Also, you must be sure the new circulator will match the delivery of the old one or you system won't heat correctly. If you are a DIYer and have never done this before, get professional help.
