Burnham steam boiler

My plumber is recommending a Burnham Independence steam boiler for an oil to gas conversion in my house.  Anybody have experience with this boiler?

    I had an...

Last heating season was the coldest we've had down here in NC in several years.

It was almost 20% less expensive to operate.  I do not foresee any problems with it in the future as long as it see's maintenance annually.  I would recommend it.

    The Independence

is a decent boiler, but there are more efficient options.

What boiler do you have now? Some recent oil-fired ones can also be used with gas burners, and offer better thermal efficiency than atmospheric ones like the Independence. This is the type of gas-fired steamer we install from scratch. Here are two we've done, a Smith G8 and a Slant/Fin Intrepid.
