Lochinvar EBN150 Venting

Hello

My name is Brian, from Syracuse, New York.

I'm new to the forum, but not new to Home Heating Help and

have taken several of Dan's classes over the years.

My question involves venting. I am installing a Lochinvar

EBN150 boiler and while I have experience installing B-vent, I have no

experience with the stainless steel venting required for this boiler.

Here's what Lochinvar  recommends:

1 - Heat-Fab Saf-T CI Vent

2 - Protech Systems Fas N Seal Vent

3 - Z-Flex Z-Vent

4 - Flex-L International Star-34 Vent

5 - Metal-Fab Corr/Guard Vent

Other than I know there seems to be a wide range in the

price of the different manufacturers, I have no idea which vent to go with.

Price is a consideration, but not if it means an inferior installation.

I'm doing a side-vent install with a straight horizontal run

of about 18' and three 90 degree elbows.

Can someone advise me which is the best overall vent to go

with?

Also, is there an adapter that connects each type of pipe to

the boiler?

Thanks for your help.

Brian

    boiler venting

I don't like to see copper tube boilers in a residential setting. They don't have a long life span and can be troublesome.

With the distance that you have to run the SS vent you could spend a few $ more and get a Knight and vent it in PVC.

Much better boiler in my mind. And it is full modulating with outdoor reset.

    A good idea . . .

Thanks for that thought. I already have the EBN150 though, but is the venting going to be so expensive that I should really consider another boiler?  FYI - I am heating about 1300 sq ft with copper baseboard.

    Too much boiler!

You have too much boiler for 1300 sq ft! The two stage firing will not help you much in this case. A Raypak residential H0066 is the perfect solution. We pipe them p/s. You can power vent them sidewall with standard single wall. We prefer to use a liner in a standard chimney.

    I realize it's too big

    Thanks.

I realize it is too big, but I have plans to heat more (up to 2000 sq ft) and I got this boiler with 50 hours use for next to nothing. Still, I don't want to force this boiler into a situation that's it's not going to work in.

I think I should start another thread to ask for other ideas.

    I appreciate your thoughts.

    Please Consider Thread Closed

I appreciate everyone's help and I've decided to not install this boiler and go with a correctly sized one.

So . . . this venting question doesn't matter anymore, but it did help convince me to change course.

    Thanks everyone.
