Just a thank-you to this forum and Dan's books on steam heat. We have a 60+yr old home with steam heat. Boiler was replaced about 10 yrs ago as the old one was leaking badly. Ever since new boiler was installed, one upstsairs room has always been cold. After rather "lame" answers from my heating guy, I bought Dan's books "The lost art of steam heat" & "We got steam heat". I can feel confident now that I know as much about steam heat (or more) than the heating guy (and that's pretty scary). Anyhow, I read both books several times and referred to this forum many times. I have lived in this house for 30 yrs---and the steam traps have never been replaced, and the pressuretrol was cranked up to the MAX. I have since replaced all of the steam traps and cranked the pressure down. Cranked up the boiler yesterday and every radiator was hot within a few minutes. Hopefully these minor corrections will bring down the oil bill and keep the house comfprtable.

Thanks for the feedback.
What a shame it is that professionals can't take on this work because they don't want to learn, as you have.Retired and loving it.0
