Painting PEX [or other flexible plastic pipe]

I have a vertical 3/8" flexible-pipe run which will not look too bad [and be a lot less expensive] if I leave it exposed and paint it.
Does anyone have experience with painting PEX or similar pipe? Can you recommend sanding or chemical de-glossing or specific paints or primers, perhaps related to the expected water temperature?

painting pex
Seems every job some pex gets painted...painters to that...if its there it gets painted. Doesn't mean its OK though. Best bet is to contact the manufacturer. Some use a chemical shield on the outside of heat pex tubing that may be bothered or damaged by paint or even some spray foams.....the answer is only a phone call away. Check first !!0
