Polaris ignitors

I'm using a Polaris water heater for radiant heat. Like many, I suffer from Frequent Ignitor Failure, so I want to minimize the cost of ignitors.
Does anyone know if I can replace the expensive (and hard-ton-find) Norton 271Q ignitor with the cheaper (and readily available) Norton 271A?
(I know I would have to rework the mounting bracket, since the 271A ceramic base is thicker)
