checking steam traps
In my book the best tool for checking steam traps is a pipe wrench.....but obviously not all traps are installed with a union on the discharge. Checking the discharge visually is the best way, but when you can't a thermal camera would work the best. It can show you the slightess of temperature variations. But how many in the trade can affford one of those puppies.....they aren't cheap for sure.
I am lucky that I have nephew in the commercial electrical business and he has one, and it is available me when I need it. Have tried it on traps and it's great.0
