Fan not running on heat pump

I have a trane wcx-g 60 package heat pump. Built in 2004. I
installed this as a used unit. This system worked fine for a few months
but last thursday the a/c came on but the inside blower will not spin. I
looked at the fan and it just wiggles back and forth. The led's on the
control board cfm-flickers, fan-off, Y-off, Ylo-off when the unit is not
running. Cfm-flickers, Fan-on, Y-on, and Ylo-off when compressor is on.
Iwent to a parts place and they sold me a motor controller that mounts
on top of the motor. Before installing I checked the wires of the motor
to case ground, all 2.4Meg ohms. Higher than the min 100K ohms listed on
the replacement paper. After installing this controller the unit acted
the same.

ECM motors
This sounds like an ECM motor. Its hard to guess which part is bad, motor? controller? If this is a G.E. ecm motor/controller,you need to purchase their TECMatePRO tester for most versions of the motor. The tester comes w/ a genteq ECM service guide ,it definately helps. And/or go to www.TheDealerToolbox.com for more on ecm motors.Last week we replaced both parts as an assembly but beware of customer sticker shock. The problem could be related to improper ducts. Good Luck!0
