Vacuum System Return

Does anyone know if its ok to insulate the return piping of a vacuum steam system? I've heard that hot condensate can destroy vacuum pumps.

It is usually not worth the cost as the returns

often are not that warm. Cooler water is better as it reduces the chance of cavitation. When water is near boiling the suction can lower the boiling point to the point where it flashes to steam in the impeller housing.
