Estimating by computer or other methods

how many times i checked my quote, then turned it in to find a mistake. most of the time due to being rushed. what are you guys using to make your estimates? A spread sheet? if so, how do you make that work. you must know Excell? are there any programs that can be picked up on the cheap like from staples or office max?

i know what my numbers are as to man hours per material & equipment. just need a format to use. any ideas or some where you can point me to make this  easier? have been doing this 30 years, and still not learned.........

    I have been using Quickbooks pro contractors edition for about three years.  Pretty complete and allows for actual material handing/tracking if needed.  Labor to job costs, all the reports and tracking you could possibly need.  Box store stocked and fairly easy to use.
