Main vent piping

I am adding two vents to my one-pipe steam system. The piping from the main to the vents is 16 inches long and I can use either 3/4 or 1/2 inch pipe to connect to the vents (the vents are equipped with both size threads). Is there any advantage favoring one size over the other?
