    Flow Control Valves

Hot water will rise into the other zone .…

Cooler water is more dense then Hot water ,so the hotter water will rise and the cooler water will fall , creating a flow up the supply riser ... It is called a gravity flow...

You need to use flow control valves when running multiple zones or if the boiler is maintaining a temperature...

Flow control valves control the direction of flow and counter the gravity forces .…

Flow Control Valves = weighted flow valves , spring loaded check valves and zone valves ...

    ...

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    Could be a wiring issue

any photos you have of the install could help. Flow Checks can help. did the pumps have IFC in the model number? Is it zoned by pumps or zone valves?
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

    pump location

I have found systems where return mounted pumps shove water into the supply manifold and the water takes the path of least resistance to get back to the return manifold. Again, IFC pumps, under-slung return lines, spring / flow checks, and so on will fix this. Good near boiler piping practices ensure this does not happen and is the mark of a real pro.
Just a guy running some pipes.
