a 80 gallon indirect tank with a 150,000 lochinvar boiler? This job started out with a little in floor heat (load 48,000 BTU) Now they would like to get rid of two rinnai water heaters and use indirect. Its a 3 bedroom house with a 72" jacuzzi,
It was suggested to use a 45 gallon tank, I'am a worry about being able to fill the tub, do I have a concern or just nuts?

boiler w/indirect
check out using a triangle tube ps110 110,000 btu input boiler and their smart 80 stainless steel indirect water heater.
boiler will only fire at what is needed from the outdoor reset control and when the indirect is needed it will fire at full btu 180*F for the domestic hot water demand and the domestic can have priority over heating.0 -
Do the math...
Volume of the tub equates to gallons, minus the displacement of the body placed in the tub (your body may vary).
To be safe, assume that you will only be able to draw 80% of the stored volume from the tank before mix and dilution kicks in, unless the tank is designed (Lochinvar and a few others) for greater output.
Add to that the ability of the heat source to add it's capacity to the load and you will be able to determine the necessary sizes to meet the load.
Not knowing for sure all of the dimensions of your tub, it is impossible to say, but here are some numbers to help.
There are 1,728 cubic inches in a cubic foot.
Each cubic foot holds 7.5 gallons.
150,000 btuH @ 90% efficiency equals 4.5 gallons per minute of 100 degree F rise water.
