Had the opportunity to go to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory yesterday to give a presentation on the radiant windows to a group of Phd's and M.E.'s yesterday.
We started with a tour of the lab's first, and what a wonderful facility it is. They have a solar cell which is 40% efficient. It is too expensive to be commercially produced at present, so it will be reserved for use in outer space.
They are doing so much high level research, it is hard to comprehend.
Here is a link that will get you to their web site. http://www.nrel.gov/
Our product was well received, even if it was accompanied with a lot of skepticism. Remember, these are Doctors and Engineers. They were BORN skeptics.
I think we made believers out of most of them, especially those who took the time to do the "Oooh, ahhhh" test on the working module we had brought along for demonstration.
Any way, we will probably be donating some materials to them for their facilities. They had already installed Sage Glass, http://www.sage-ec.com/ which is geared more towards energy reductions as it pertains to cooling and lighting loads. We were the first company to approach them with a window that would work on reducing heating loads, and making people more comfortable. We are looking at the possibility of tying the two technologies together to allow the consumer total control over the flow of energy into and out of the windows.
Will keep you posted. Am headed up to the high altitude research and development laboratory later this afternoon, if the highway stays open...
Enjoy!

High Altitude Research Laboratory
Hi Mark!
Hope that you had a good time at your High Altitude Research and Development Laboratory over the weekend. Is there still ice on the little pond next to your facility?
Lots of snow there this winter?
Hope that you wintered up well!
CONGRATS on the opportunity to make the presentation at the NREL. I know that you did well.

Thanks Clif...
The lake is till frozen (24" of ice) and about the same for snow, although it will start melting fast.
This has been the nicest warmest winter Heeney has ever seen.
You will have to drop by for a burger some time in the near future.

Burgers and Kool-Aid
I would love to take you up on your offer of finally meeting you, enjoying your hospitality with a burger and savoring the air of Heeney! Do you serve Colorado Kool-Aid with your burgers? :-)
I hope to see my parents this summer. If I get up your way, I'll definitely contact you beforehand and see if we can meet.
A warm winter in Heeney is an unusual occurence. Here in Tallinn, we have had a hard winter. We went almost 90 days where the high for the day didn't get above 22 F, and we had 30 days where the temp never got above -5 F. We normally get about 24" of snow, this year we have had over 72" and it snowed again last night!
Take care and I hope that this summer will be the one!
