At least six people were sickened Monday night at the Giant supermarket
in Forks Township due to <a href="http://www.cdc.gov/co/faqs.htm">carbon
monoxide poisoning</a>, according to the township fire chief.
<a href="http://businessfinder.lehighvalleylive.com/2508804/Giant-Food-Stores-Easton-PA">The
store on Town Center Boulevard</a> was evacuated about 9:30 after six
to eight people in a tented-off area being renovated complained of
nausea and headaches, according to Chief Chuck Chapman.
One
person collapsed, according to Forks police Cpl. Jack Dressler. He said
levels were life-threatening in the area where the carbon monoxide was
most concentrated.
Chapman said about 35 people were forced to
leave the store. They were being tested for carbon monoxide poisoning.
Sometimes symptoms are slow to manifest themselves, so they were all to
be tested as a precaution, the chief said.
