New water heater. Which technology?

Our 14 year old gas water heater should be replaced before it dies. I've been looking into new technologies and have decided against tankless heaters. I've been looking into water pump water heaters. GE has a new model as does Rheem. Does anyone have any experience with these heaters? What's the lowest price I can find? I'm in NJ. What are the rebates and tax incentives involved? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean a heat pump hot water heater ? I think the Fed's give a 30% tax credit up to $1500 installation cost .

    new water heater

look into A O Smith www.hotwater.com their VERTEX 50 gallon nat gas or lp gas tank type water heater.

first model comes nat gas only first hour 127 GPH with 92 GPH recovery at 90* temp rise only 76,000 btu input vents with PVC pipe.

second model comes in nat gas or lp gas first hour 164 GPH wit 129 GPH recovery at 90 temp rise only 100,000 btu input vents with PVC pipe

both of these units qualify for the federal tax credit of 30% up to $1500.00 plus check with your state and local gas utility for extra tax credits and rebates.

If you mean a heat pump

water heater. Look here  www.airgenerate.com/  This unit can be placed on a larger water heater and if the tank goes bad you can remove it and put it on a new tank. Remember , those btu,s come from somewhere. So you have to use a little thought when using one.
