Steaming Hay??????

<strong>Know this is mostly for steam heating, but I just could not help passing this little information on using steam.

Visited the Aldrich Boiler Co. in Wyoming, Illinois today. Just southeast of Kewanee, Illinois. You know the folks that made Kewanee Boilers. The Aldrich Co. started out making the first oil gun type burners and used to be the largest manufacturer of gun burners. Alas that is no more.  They still make boilers though. Jason Howard graciously toured me around the facilities. He then went on to show me a use for a steam boiler that I had never heard of steaming hay while bailing it. View following web site for a tractor pulled steamer and hay baler.

When I did a search for steaming hay to find the above link I also learned that steaming hay is beneficial to horses and other livestock by killing dust mites that can cause respiratory problems.

Didn't know they were still in business

recognized the name from my old books. Anyone ever seen an Aldrich-brand oil burner?

    No burners at Aldrich

They only had photos of some of their old burners at Aldrich. No display models.
