Tax Rebates For Steam Boilers?

Are steam boilers qualified for either Federal or State energy tax rebates?



Since there are no steam boilers greater than 82% efficiency, I wondered about this because some of the gas companies offer the rebates on these systems, and so maybe they are eligible for Federal or State Tax rebates?



Does anyone know?

We replaced our old oil steamer with a new Burnham Independence and we were told that unless it has 90% efficiency then it doesn't qualify.  Burnham has a list of their products that qualify for the rebate... Big Bummer!

There are many above 82%

if you like we can list them. as for tax rebate I have no idea

none are steam

None of the boilers that qualify for the tax credit are steam boilers. 

I think furnaces must have an AFUE of 95% and boilers need 90%.  (Don't quote me, but I think that the most efficient steam boiler is 86%)
