I just had a Burnham Alpine installed. The literature recommends Fernox Protector; inhibits corrosion and reduces scale buildup . Considering the efficiency and the thinness of the boiler material I think this would be a good idea with no downside.
Does anyone have any experience with these products or eqiuvalents?
Does anyone in the connecticut area retail this product or equivalent?

better use
what the manufacturer suggests. Rhomar Water makes aluminum safe products also. Check to see if the manufacturer will accept this, in writing Many of the boiler manufacturers have tested and approved more than one product.
The bigger issue is getting the system cleaned BEFORE you add the expensive treatment. Also check the quality of the fill water you intend to use. On some jobs we would haul DM (de-mineralized) water to the job if the well water was out of the spec they suggest.
