Pretty much...
any all stainless steel or reverse indirect type tanks DON'T have anode rods.
ANode rods protect bear ferrous metals in conventional steel tanks. THey keep the incoming oxygen from attacking the mild steel by placing a lesser noble metal, i.e. magnesium or aluminum, in the path of the oxygen, so the oxygen eats them first.
I have however seen anodes on the closed side of some heating boilers (Ajax).

You could use active cathode protection
Like the alaska pipeline and IIRC, at least one indirect had it as an option/feature/whatever.0 -
Quite common on boats
we usually use zinc plates but here is some info on active. http://www.boatcorrosion.com/aboutcorrosion.html0 -
No Anode!
Marathon Electric water heaters and storage tanks do not require (or have) them because they consist of an all plastic storage tank. The heaters come with a lifetime warranty to the original owner and a fifteen year transferable to the second owner.
Pretty nice! I use them often for solar thermal, large mass radiant storage and domestic of course. There was an error rendering this rich post.
