Can I Use?

Went to an auction on Sat.  and bought 5Lb of  40/60 rosin core solder for a$1.00.  Can I use this for sweating copper pipe if I use regular flux.

Thanks

    Curious

Hi Rich, just curious , how much do you think a leak is worth?

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    5 mile solder

We call that 5 mile solder.  When we ran out, and didn't even have an emergency roll,  but were only 4 miles from home,  used it on heat.

Then we put a roll of emergency solder on each truck, so it wouldn't happen again.

    Oh,  it's still holding ( 10 years)

    only in a bind

I'd worry about puddles of the rosin in the bond? Save it for electrical work.

I have used rosin core on some of my copper art projects. The thin diameter allows a tight, clean joint.
