always calling low water cut off

i just installed a automatic water feed for a steam boiler with a standard low water cut off with the float inside. It fills fine the first time and then when the boiler is running for a while it starts filling again . I checked it and the switch was closed so I banged on the low water cut off and it stopped filling. so apparently the float was stuck. My question is if I put a new low water cut off in will it solve my problem for good or will it happen again, and if yes after how long. or should I just eliminate the automatic water feed..

see about cleaning it ...

if it's a McDonnell Miller #67 .. you can try to disassemble it and clean it out .. but you may want to have replacement gaskets before you do this .. have a look at my thread over here: http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/129681/why-we-blowdown-the-LWCO
