Burner shuts down prematurely

I was hoping for some suggestions to troubleshoot my "old" Arcoflame American Standard oil burner.

The burner is not firing up without hitting the reset button. After I hit the reset button it only runs for approximately 5 mins and shuts down again. Each time I hit the reset the same thing happens.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you!

Ed

    Stop!!!!!!

Stop reseting the button. Unless you hear or see a flame. You are just spraying oil in the chamber! Which makes a mess and a big boom when it does light. Call a pro and expect to be told to replace it. Not many arcoflames out there nowadays.

    I agree

it's time to replace that burner. A new one can be expected to save at least 15% of your fuel, if selected and installed properly. Some of our customers have done better than that.

What model boiler is this thing installed on?
