Lets say I want to move the boiler to the garage (about 100ft away) but don’t want to run a water line to the garage. Is it ok to have the water fill in the house that far from the boiler? Can it be anywhere in the system. I’d be using insulated barrier PEX from garage to house and connecting to an older black pipe/cast iron rad. system. Thanks.

I have seen it done
just make sure you write in permanent marker on the boiler
exactly where the feeder can be found.
The one house i know about where it was done, the home owner finished the ceiling, hiding its location. I made several large holes, before I found it.There was an error rendering this rich post.

They did that all the time
in Baltimore rowhouses. The PRV was installed near the laundry trays and fed into whatever heat system pipe passed that location. It can really confuse you if you don't know where to look. Ask me how I know that.....All Steamed Up, Inc.
