will this work for radiant heating?

I am now using radiant heat for the main floor using staple up pipe in the joist space.

I am thinking about using radiant heat for doing the basement but from the ceiling.

I have attached a link to a drawing of what I am thinking about.

Will this work?

    Yes

Yes it will. I did a home like this about ten years ago and it works fine. They used wood "car siding" for the basement ceiling to give a cabin type of feel to the home and it works through that. I've been back for several other things at the house since then and they are very happy with the system. I did warn them that they likely wouldn't get the effect of the nice warm floors that you can get with the tubing buried directly in the floors but they were OK with that. It's an older home that originally had threaded black iron pipe buried in the concrete back in the 50's for heat.

    Good luck,
