Urban Geothermal - in the news!

Soon as we can clear away the snow, next task is a horizontal bore-hole under their back yard out-buildings (no room for mechanical excavation!).

    I learned

from a guy I consider to be tops as a writer(G). Still do - always will. Friend, colleague, mentor - it doesn't get any better than that pal. You uncorked this dyslexic!

By way of explaining geo to customers, I refer to geo as the "well-traveled heat pump" and then go into the Florida Alaska analogy. Demystifying the mysterious so they can be better informed and grasp the "magic" behind geo technology.

While those two wells were being dug, I met with (and landed) another urban geo job where the homeowners had received multiple proposals. Ours was the highest by almost $10K. None of the others revealed the facts and all of the others were shorting the geo (Btu equipment size) and the wells (less footage than required - even for their undersized units) to cut costs and win the bid. Unbeknownst to owners, that results in higher operating costs due to electric resistance heat having to blend in to offset the short-fall on the geo side. None - not one - had provided a detailed report illustrating what percentage of the heating load the geo would handle - ours did - or depth of the wells - ours did - or size of the geo pipe - ours did - and so on. All I did was arm the customers with knowledge and they threw out the other bids(G). Then we added some bells & whistles (upgrade filtration & steam humidifier).
