best tank additive

I have some new tanks and some old ones. I've never cut apart an old tank but I have heard that sludge happens. I used Hercules products that as far as I can tell is nothing more than expensive mineral spirits.

Question: Do you think occasional oil additives are necessary?

Will they create more problems if you add them to an older tank that hasn't been treated in a while (or ever?)

I found this site,..has anyone used this product? Ever see any independent reviews of these products anywhere.

    Better then a additive

Install the tanks correctly a additive would not be needed and the tank would last last a lot longer too .. Water laying in the bottom breeds sludge .. A bug lives between the laver , eats the oil and poops out sludge .. The bugger can not digest the sulfur and poops out sulfuric acid too ...Great for a steel tank ...right !!! Pitch the tank toward the valve , install legs high enough to place a filter at valve ...Any water will empty in the filter ...Sure sludge would breed at that point ..So once a year change the filter and empty the filter can ... Stay away from top feed tanks too ...Same reason ..

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    Fuelright

Fuelright works.  It breaks up the sludge.

    Good stuff.
