adding radiators to basement

Member Posts: 28
I am remodeling my basement and adding old cast iron radiators. The electric heat was to costly to operate and I am more than doubling the finished space size. I have removed the old valves and plugs from the bottom of the radiators and I am planning on installing new black iron bushings to accept the new copper supply & return lines. Are there any issues with connecting copper adapters to the black iron bushings with regards to expansion rates of the different metals. These radiators were previously used on a steam system. I have added the air bleeder on the top tapping and have removed the air vent. I am also pressure testing to check for leaks.

never had a problem
Never had a problem with copper MALE adts into black fittings.. However, if the heating main are above the radiator(s), you may needs vent on top portion of pipe.. If you are using monoflow system, make sure you use 2 of them and spaced the widht of radaitor..0
