HVAC unit stopped working

Member Posts: 23
I am watching my son's house while he is away. The heat was left on 55, it was working fine. Today there is no heat. I turned main switch off/on and only hear a small buzz. I am not familiar with HVAC but I have worked on boliers and know that with call for heat, draft inducer should be first thing on. Unit is Trane XE80. What should I look for? Thanks. Brant.

HVAC stopped working
I hate to be the one to say this, but you need to look for a good HVAC tech to help you out. If you are not trained or licensed to work on that particular piece of equipment, you are taking a big chance.

If the inducer is not running, or is stalled creating the noise, having a qualified service tech check the complete system over is the best. While the tech is there have them check the furnace over, it may be in your son's best interest to replace the furnace at this time.
