Cast Iron base board rads to replace old rads

With new windows and being much better insulated, I have the opportunity to downsize my boiler. My heat load calc for the updated house is 40-50% lower than what the house used to develop.



Since the boiler is sized on the EDR and in some room the old rads are huuggge, I was thinking of resizing the rads to the new calc, which would allow me to go with cast iron base boards which accommodate my wife's furniture arrangements much better.



When I converted the old kitchen (a real cubbby hole- 8 by 8) to an office for her, I put in a base board and it works like a chanp.



I know that there are alot of opinions on this. So anybody have thoughts on this?
