banging radiator 2nd floor

I have a radiator at the end of the line on the second floor that bangs after the heat has been on for a while and the radiator is worm. It hammers as if the radiator is ice cold. I have a hartford loop that is 24in. long, and is the right pipe size. The elbow with the close nipple is about 3in. below the water line of the lowest point. The returns are about 3-4in. below the the lowest point of the site glass. I have 25in. to bottom of header,90, into a tee,nipple,90,into hartford loop. Tee has 18in. nipple to main.

Banging Radiator
Make sure the valve on the pipe leading into the radiator is fully open. Check the slope of the radiator with a bubble level. It should be slightly sloped towards the end that the steam pipe is connected. Don't slope the radiator too much as this can also cause problems. You want just enough slope to "encourage" the condensate (water) to flow out of the radiator.
If you have problems after doing this try a slower air vent on the radiator.
