GB142 Combustion Air in Extreme Cold

I have a customer a few hours north of me that has two GB142 boilers installed in his home. Last winter both shut down during a cold snap (-40). I had him pull the covers off and the boilers started back up. To prevent this from happening again I suggested I cut off the combustion air vent off and point it towards the ceiling to create a trap so cold air won't dump into the room unless the boilers are calling. The owner is not satisfied with this solution.
Has anyone had this situation with either the GB's or any other manufactures? What solution were you able to come up with?
Thanks
Dobber

what kind of terminations
Is it a concentric hood? or individually piped? is pipe pitching up, away from boiler, what error code shows 6A?
Reason I ask, I went to a no heat call on a new Buderus installed by others, I believe ice had built up inside the intake, it was trying to suck in air but ended up creating a vaccuum inside the cabinet and vibrating badly, I cracked the cover also, no choice until warmer weather.0
