Removing a radiator

Hello,
I am doing some remodeling in my upstairs bathroom. I need to remove one of my 1950's or so vintage radiators (burnham cast iron slender series), I have a 2 pipe system, hot water, but only 1 valve (manual control valve, no lock valve) on the one side. The other side is simply a 90 elbow going back thru the floor.
How do I remove this radiator without draining the entire system? Can I just put a cap on the pipe for the few weeks I will be renovating and continue to use the system?
Thanks

You will have to drain the system
below the second floor to disconnect that radiator. Then you will have to refill it after capping the lines. The same procedure applies when you put it back in.All Steamed Up, Inc.
