Hydronic Software

I recevied the 2nd edition of Modern Hydronic Heating for Xmas and it's a book I feel everyone should have in their shop. My question is, does anyone use John's software? I loaded in the academic software that comes with the book and I love really like the ease of the software never mind the heat emiiter modules.

I wanted to get some input from some that are using it before I dump the $$$ to get the pro version. Is is worth it? What likes and dislikes? Based on the version that comes with the book to me it is the best package in one platform that I have touched. Thanks in advance for your input.

    Great stuff...

I use to use it daily when I was active in the hydronics biz. THe only thing I didn;t use was the heat loss calc portion. It works OK for smallish, one and two room load calcs, but I once had spent a whole day inputting a 10K monster, and was one room away from completion when the program had a brain fart, and I lost everything...

The hydraulic programs are to die for.

The fluid and expansion tank sizing programs are dead on.

The fuel estimation module wasn't the best, but only because he didn't use to have a category for GS or ASHP;s, but all you really had to do was input 1/3 the cost per KWH to force it to work (assuming a COP of 3 to 1).

If you are going to be in the hydronics biz full time, it is a valueable tool.

    Really like it

I have been using it for a few months and like it a lot.  One change that would be nice is if you could export the drawing for an email, other than that it is very useful for its relatively low cost.
