Beckett NX worth it?

I am consdiering having my burner changed out due to age and a lot of worn parts and it is probably cheaper to swap the unit. Is the NX worth the extra money, the sound cover would be nice and it seems to boast a lot fo new features, but I am not certain what your results have been or if it is worth the price? any ideas or feedback?

thanks

    The short answer is

    "it depends".

What kind of burner do you have now? What make and model is your boiler?

    The AFG

is still the specified Beckett burner for that boiler, unless it's direct-vented (no chimney). For that, they specify the NX.

Nothing wrong with either burner. But at the least, if your AFG is not already so equipped and not in a generally trashed condition, I'd replace the primary with an electronic one and the fuel unit with a CleanCut. This will bring its performance to nearly that of a new AFG. You can also get a sound cover for it.

    Nx on WBV

The Nx is speced for the WBV Chimney and Direct vents, we sell qiute a few here on Long Island, extreemly quiet and clean on this application.

    Thanks Charlie

I didn't see that on the Peerless site or in my OEM spec guide. Now that we know there's a chimney venting spec for the NX on this boiler, I'd go for the NX if you're going to buy a completely new burner.

I have a Burnham V-14 on which I installed an NX, and its combustion test numbers were noticeably better than the previous generation burner. It's a nice burner and worth the extra cost. Get it with the GeniSys control if you can.
