WM Ultra Series 3

Have 2 Series 3 Ultra 230s-tried to set up as type 3 and type 4 multiple boiler control configuration. Problem is the master won't call for additional heat demand. I did adjust the delay time to 1 minute. Any ideas?

  • Ahhh Ultras,,,,

These units seem to be so cantankerous, I HOPE I never see another!!

Can you get anywhere with W/M tech support?

PS-If not I assure you,,,,, your NOT the first!

    weil mclain

Not sure what your problem is or why you are having trouble, but I do take exception to your remarks about tech support from Weil.....where do you live and work??? On the moon??? I have installed over 350 Weil boilers in the last 15 years and have NEVER had any trouble with support. Are you sure Weil is the problem????
  • Fully expected that from you Al,,,,

my question is, what took you so long?? ;-)

Personally, I have had no-luck with newer W/M units(modcons) as they are always "touchy" on their control strategy,,,, tech support never seems to know.

How can there be so many "series",, if few problems existed before??

PS- I am on this planet,, just a little more in-touch with reality. ;-)

    Weil follow up

Can't help but tell the truth Dave....sent you an e-mail.

There have been some issues with controls and damage from lack of maintenance and that is why Weil is on top of the situation and is constantly working to stay ahead of the fault curve.......not always ahead of it but give them credit for taking steps to correct issues. I guess we've spoil here as I have been a Weil customer for many years because of the great service and support I get...........

    please check system types

On your type 3 boiler check to see what system types you are using for priority 1, 2, and 3. If you are using any of  these and they are set to DHW direct and Custom they will NOT activate the additional heat demand. On your type 4 boilers make sure priority 1 is also NOT set to one of these two system types.

Also you need to check your system set point and system sensor temperatures in the diagnostics screen. If your system supply sensor (strap on sensor) are within your on differential from you ODR temp it will also not activate the additional heat demand. Esentially because it is indicating that the system is up to temperature
