weil mclain steam furnace

i have a steam furnace and the sight glass was full of water so i

drained some of the water that it was half way and it was like that for

most of the day but i went back in to check it and the sight glass was

full again.  My question is does this sight glass have to be full or is

there some way to regulate how much water goes into the furnace without

it filling all the way??

  • Steam Boiler

Hi-  First of all furnaces make hot air and boilers make hot water and steam. So I'm assuming you have a Weil McLain Steam boiler. There are several possibilities as to what might be causing your problems, We'll need a bit more information so we have a better idea as to the source of your problem.

What model Weil McLain boiler is it?

    How old is the boiler?

Does it have an automatic water feeder or do you turn on a tap (valve) to add water to the boiler?

Does it heat hot water for domestic use? (showers etc)

Do you have a manual for the boiler?

Let us know the answers and then we can help you.
