TACO EBV on an indirect zone

After asking the question on the zone controller I started to think about the subject of using an EBV valve on an indirect zone. From past posts here it has been said that it's best to use 1" piping to an indirect tank even if the inlets are 3/4". In my case I am using an Allliance SL tank that has just that. Now in their diagarams they state 3/4" min. I looked at the 1" EBV valve and it looks like the it's not a full port valve but rather steps down in diameter. Am I really better off going with the 1" pipe all around if the 1" EBV will still restrict me and is the 3/4" EBV actually more open in proportion to it's diameter?
