What controls autofeed?

I think my autofeed might be starting to fail, last night I found that the unit was overfilled and had to drain a lot of water to get the sight glass down to where it was visible.

Its a VAC with the LED gallonage that shows up.

I was curious,..what does trigger it,..that is, is it pressure? does it somehow connect to the LWCO?,..what tells it to feed and when to stop?

    what controls auto water feeder

the auto water feeder is controlled by the low water cutoff could be that the return piping is clogged with sediment cuasing the boiler to overfill or auto water feed could be leaking by ie: valve in auto water feed not shutting off all the way you need to set by the boiler while its running and watch what happens when the boiler is running see how fast water leaves boiler and how fast water returns to the boiler and how soon the auto water feed adds water to the boiler then come back here with your observations

    Similar issue

I have a similar issue.  My auto feed sometimes goes on before the condensate has a chance to return to the boiler.  So then once the condensate actually returns I have water almost all the way to the top of the sight glass.  I would like to know how to adjust the auto feed so it puts in less water.

    similair issue

the m and m uf series has switches that set the timing of the water feed valve opening resetting them only mask the problem if boiler water leaves and is slow to return that is a sign that the return piping may be clogged and needs cleaning
