Expansion Tank

12" x 48" tank that is horizontal has lots of surface area for water to touch air. Would it be better to put it vertical with the same presser. Would take longer for the air to leak into the water?

yes it would take longer

the thing is why not use a bladder style tank instead?

The air moves from the tank by gravity circulation.

If  you use an Airtrol fitting in the tank the gravity circulation will stop and the air will remain in the tank much longer. It's a simple solution.
