Hot water heating

Member Posts: 19
I was working on a forced hot water system where there is a supply and return main running through the ceiling on the 1st floor and it feeds radiators above and below the main. How do I balance the the first and second floor radiators when the water wants to go to the radiators above the main? Do I need to put some type of restriction to force the water down to the radiators?Thank you for any help.

Monoflow tees
You'll need to put monoflow diversion tees on the supply AND return tees for the rad that goes to the lower floor to induce some of the mains flow into that rad. There was an error rendering this rich post.

time to zone
rather than try to balance it all as one zone, I would make the downstairs it's own zone (loop) and give it it's own pump.Just a guy running some pipes.0 -
I Agree
Any floor or wing in a building needs to be zoned ...You can't balance a system with different heat losses ..There was an error rendering this rich post.
