Vent question

I have a couple radiators in my 2nd floor bedrooms that are making the rooms too hot at night. I completely closed the air vents on each radiator and they still get hot enough but not as hot as when they were completely open. Are there any repercussions to closing off these air vents? Each of them is at the end of a pipe so there is no worry about other radiators down the line getting hot. Will these closed vents cause the pressure in my boiler to go up faster? Right now my vaporstat is set at about 0.65 psi.

closing vents
yes, closing vents will cause pressure build-up quicker, that's not a bad thing in and of itself... and closed vents should also keep the rads cold/cooler.1-pipe Homeowner - Queens, NYC

TRVs
What kind of adjustable vents have a completely closed setting?
Anyway, if you get tired of doing that every night, check out thermostatic radiator valves, like the Danfoss RA2000 line. They will open and close the vents for you to maintain a room temperature setting. Easy to add to one-pipe steam.0 -

Adjustable vents are really just horrible.
when we tested them, we took the vents right out of the boxes and put them on a test rig..we could have played with them to try to get the best performance we could out of them but we chose to test them just as ''out of the box'' products..so some may have the cap screws engaged to tight, or not tight enough! and that is the problem with adjuable vents..you just don't know exactly what your getting..thats why some are listed as closed at what should be low settings..they tightened the cap screws to much at the factory..but if your a homeowner or even a contractor arn't you just going to take this thing out of the box and stick it on the radiator? Dave is correct, TRV installs would be the way to go.gwgillplumbingandheating.com
