rhidden radiators

I have a house with a few hidden radiators (the radiator is in the basement in a box and vented to the upstairs). On all of them there is a vent to the outside I assume for fresh air The problem is when the heat is off you get cold air blowing through the house. Can I just cut this vent to the outside and let it get air from the basement or was there a reason that this was important

they are called indirect radiators
i believe you are referring to "indirect radiators". Hopefully this alone will point you towards more information. I'm sure you will get other responses .. I'm not sure about removing that vent.1-pipe Homeowner - Queens, NYC

Under floor air supply
I had the underfloor indirects in my last home. I sealed the outside ducts to stop the cold air and simply opened the door that was located in the bottom of the box. There was enough convection that the system worked fine, but without the cold air that was obvious when the system wasn't producing heat.0
