no more gorton#2's

just had a few jobs where i needed to add main vents. 4 of the 6 gorton #2's that i ordered had the float wedged in place which prevented air passage. only Hoffman #75's from now on. also no more varivalves for me. they spit like crazy on the last install. hoffman 1a's for the smaller rads and gorton c's and d's for the larger rads

did you call gorton?

of course, you should not have to spend time calling the manufacturer, but that would be the next step in your situation. unfortunately, you need a long antler, and a deep wallet to get the same capacity with hoffmans [which are certainly well made]--nbc

the rep said that the float was probably stuck. i was able to return the gortons. i don't have the time to make two orders for each job so its only Hoffmans from now on

Ive had more bad Hoffman's than

Gortons..out of the last two hundred gorton 2's i think we had two bad ones..1 in a hundred i can live with..i've had worse luck with the shiny hoffmans..now the green hoffmans seemed better..at least thats what my gut tells me.

for the record...

I have bought 2 hoffman vents now that were not totally soldered or sealed around the flat base and blew steam & leaked. Very upsetting to have to plug the rad and go all the way to supplier in the morning to fix this.

They may have had some bad ones get thru

it happens to every company- but there's never been a problem with them making good.



The nice thing about Gorton is they're a smaller company, and can serve their customers better.
