oil line sizing

in Oil Heating
I have two oil burners in a basement. The oil line is teed off before the units (3/8)
into two differnt oil ffilters, and then into units. The feed is off of the bottom of the tank, and then runs along the floor about 30 feet away. The units work fine until both run at the same time. I put a pressure guage on one of the two units. When just the one unit runs, i am at 100psi. With that unit running and the other kicking on at the same time, the pressure drops until it snuffs the flame out. My thinking is that if i run new oil lines into the top of tank, and increase to 1/2" and bring to both units that i will eliminate the problem. I am thinking that i may have alot of sludge in bottom of the tank. I was planning to run one 1/2" OD copper line into the top of the tank, and overhead which is 7 feet high with a developed length of 43 feet and then tie in before tee to both units. Doe anyone think this would be a problem? Any input would be great.

not such a good idea
You could use a duplex fitting and convert on unit to two pipe or connect both and use a tiger loop. Are you a home owner or a technician? To make sure you meet local fire codes you may want to have a professional do it if you are not one.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

Re: oil line sizing
You could also have a priority relay installed. Just a thought. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Is there
any vacuum in the line when both burners run?
Is the shutoff valve at the tank all the way open? All Steamed Up, Inc.

Is this a two on one line system?
Are both of the appliances operating with a one line system?
If so, what are the firing rates of the respective appliances?
