Leaking steam pipe

Member Posts: 1
There's a steam pipe that goes through the ceiling of my garage to a steam radiator in the den above the garage. There's a little water on the garage floor just below the steam pipe that goes through the ceiling to the den's radiator and some of the concrete surrounding the steam pipe has chipped off. How can I plug this leak? Can I use expanding foam in the cavity surrounding that steam pipe in the ceiling?

steam leak
If you are sure the leak is in the piping and not from above, like a leaking valve packing, using foam is just a band aide that will eventually weaken, and the leak will only get worse. The only solution here is to fix the leak. If you don't have the skills to do so, it's time to call a pro.
Leaking steam lets more water into the boiler and that is a death sentence to a boiler to have excessive water added....get the leak fixed right.0
